Jane Cousins - AUTHOR

Author of the Southern Sanctuary Series / By The Numbers Series.

Am all about hot instant attraction, writing PNR/Mystery I think every story needs romance, humour and action.

Karma: Karma Series, Book #1

Karma: Karma Series, Book #1 - Donna Augustine What a cool concept, the universe has a police force staffed by Karma, Fate, Lady Luck and a host of others. Enjoyed the read, quite a few twists and turns - only problem is not much gets resolved in this first book. Would have appreciated a few answers as to what is going on, am looking forward to see how the rest of the series progresses.

Concealed in Death

Concealed in Death - J.D. Robb Kudos to J.D Robb, next year will be 20 years of writing this consistently good series. That achievement is nothing short of brilliant.
I enjoyed reading 'Concealed in Death' - the writing/story/characters is, as always, of a very good standard. Saying that I would have like a little bit more tension/something at stake; twelve bodies, killed fifteen years ago just didn't quite get my adrenalin levels going.
And maybe it's just me, but I think it's time Roarke and Eve embarked upon parenthood. Of course Eve won't be a stay at home mother, but that will just make the challenges of raising a baby that much more interesting.

When Demons Walk (Sianim)

When Demons Walk (Sianim) - Patricia Briggs Of course I love Briggs Wolf series - Mercy/Anna & Charles - but for me, this would have to be my favourite Briggs book. How could I not love it - the heroine is a thief and a magician - pulled into the machinations of court life she goes undercover as a rich man's mistress. There were laughs, action and a gentle unfurling love story. I always wanted a second book with these same characters - but I suppose that's just a ringing endorsement of how much I loved the book.

The Lies of Locke Lamora

The Lies of Locke Lamora - Scott Lynch When a book is well written it doesn't matter the genre, count me in. I loved this first novel in the Gentleman Bastard series. It had action, adventure, underdog heroes that you root for and some twists and completely shocking turns.
The world building was done so well I was just swept up into the story - which was a cross between Ocean's Eleven and the Thomas Crown affair - but set in a completely different world.

Man of My Dreams

Man of My Dreams - Johanna Lindsey Rainy day - pure romance - read. I grew up reading Johanna Lindsey, and just love her early work. My all time fave though would have to be 'Man of my Dreams' A sassy gorgeous heroine, slightly spoilt but good at heart, meets her match in a strong confident man. They verbally spar and whilst they claim to hate one another cannot keep their hands to themselves.
If you're looking for an escapist read of pure romance (as much as I love PNR, it's nice to take an occasional break) and some laughs, then this is the perfect feel good read.

Angels' Blood

Angels' Blood - Nalini Singh Love pretty much anything by Nalini Singh but I must admit a preference for the Guild Hunter series and in particular any book that revolves around Elena & Raphael. Kudos to the author for bringing such a rich alternate world to life. Angels, vampires, guild hunters - it's a fantastic and fascinating combination.

Spider's Bite

Spider's Bite - Jennifer Estep Killer (literally) opening scene in the insane asylum. Gin Blanco was a revelation; contract killer with a complicated history. Whilst there is some romance- this book is more action/adventure (the romance element developed in later books and done very well) Love this entire series.

Dragon Bound

Dragon Bound - Thea Harrison Love this whole series but there's a special place in my heart for book one. The alternate world is done very well here. The heroine, Pia, is strong but not without flaws. Dragos is overbearing, dominant and gorgeous but you know almost instantly that Pia will be his one weakness and yet make him a better man. Love the premise (why she steals) and loved even more what she steals (just perfect) The kind of book you are happy to read again and again.

Trust Me

Trust Me - Jayne Ann Krentz This is my go to book on a rainy winter day when I just want to read something fun and familiar. Love all Jayne Ann Krentz books and still buy all her latest but my favourites are the books written around the time Trust Me was published. Including the early PNR trilogy Orchid, Amaryllis and Zinnia.

Soulless

Soulless - Gail Carriger, Gail Carriger Love it when a book surprises you. This first in the series just swept me away. Loved the prickly independent h and the alpha H, they snarked at each other but that made it so much more entertaining when they finally succumbed to their mutual attraction.

God Save the Queen

God Save the Queen - Kate Locke Fresh and surprising take on alternative universe/paranormal/Victorian set series. All three books were excellent, love a story that just sucks you right in.

The Bridal Season

The Bridal Season - Connie Brockway Adore Connie Brockway - particularly her earlier books. All time favourite would have to be The Bridal Season. The heroine is flawed but with a heart of gold. This is a fun / feel good read thanks to a clever plot, hero and heroine you will fall in love with and solid supporting characters.

Here Kitty, Kitty!

Here Kitty, Kitty! - Shelly Laurenston Love Shelly Laurenston: but if I could only choose one favourite then it would have to be Here Kitty Kitty - witty, clever story with a bold, hold her own in any situation heroine. Add one hot hero and you have magic.
